Why Mother's Day is Important.
Why is Mother’s Day important? Mother’s Day is that special day set aside to honor all mothers. Not just to honor mothers, that should be done everyday, but to place special focus on all mothers. Seems simple, right? Let’s first take a look at the history of Mother’s Day.
A woman from Philadelphia, Anna Jarvis, held a memorial service for her late mother on May 12, 1907 in Grafton, West Virginia. Her mother was noted for organizing women’s groups to promote friendship and health. Within 5 years, just about every state was celebrating the day, and eventually became a national holiday in 1914.
Today we celebrate Mother’s Day, not for promoting friendship and health for women but for many things about being a mother.
